Hey Fellas, how goes it?

Had a question about the air conditioning in my 268. How does it work. When it's on, water flows out of the port side actually at a trickle which is why I'm posting this.

On all other boats in the marina, the water really flows out as to mine is at a trickle. Could there be something wrong? Where does this water come from and could there be something wrong? Water seems to be hot at times coming out of there too...

It should be coming out at a steady stream when its on.

Your strainer or intake could be clogged, or you could have some build up in the lines. Best bet is to close the seacock, and clean out the strainer.

You have what is known as a water cooled marine ac unit....probably reverse cycle. The water will be warm coming out depending on the load. If you don't have enough water flow going through the unit it will go off on high refrigerant pressure. Not sure

I had a similar problem with mine. After a while of trying to run it showed a hi pressure warning on the display. The pump was running, but water was barely running out. The unit would eventually shut down. What I found out from my mechanic is these 268's get air locked rather easily. First I checked the sea strainer to make sure it's clean, and the seacock open. Then I took a garden hose(with the unit off and sea cock open) a forced water into the discharge hole of the a/c unit untill I saw big bubbles comes out from under the boat(lots of them). Turned the unit on, and it had full flow and was ice cold on a 90 deg day!

My brother also had the same problem with his (Cruisers 2870) after it was launched from dry storage. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for all the input. The thing is that I spoke to the Marina about this and they had a guy check it out. He had done some work on it and it is flowing a bit better, but it definitely is not a steady stream as I see on other boats of my size. What I don't want to happen is to let it go and something go wrong because the flow is not appropriate....

Hmmm. Good to know. So it isn't a good idea running the AC when the boat is on the lift and not in the water? There goes my home extension
