New member here....with a "new to me" 2005 Vista 258. My first cruiser, but not my first boat.

I have a couple of questions though and the manual is a bit confusing. I looked throught numerous posts here and could not find a definitive answer......probably missed it though.

1. Manual states panel lights switch on AC panel controls cabing lights when hooked to shore power......I flip the switch and nothing happens. I switch battery switch on and presto....cabing lights work. Q: Are interior lights only 12v? Can they work on shore power without battery pwr?

2. Another Galvanic Isolator Question: Fault light blinks slowly when hooked to shore power AND have battery switch on to work cabin lights. Switch battery to Off position and GI red light stops blinking. Is this normal? I have talked with Guest and Four Winns and they suggested a "process of elimination" to ensure GI is working properly and boat is wired properly. Was hoping to get some additional feed back as well.....

Welcome to the forum.

On our 2007 Vista 258, the panels lights switch is a 12 volt device as well as the cabin lights. That switch will only work when the your ship systems are turned on. I think that series should be very similar across the years.

As far as the GI indicator, do you hear the GI relay chatter? What is the condition of your anodes? We had a problem with bad marina power that drove our GI system crazy. Moved to another marina and the problem went away. Do you have another location you can plug in to see if there is a difference?

Not counting out a wiring issue but the GI system is also effected by external conditions.

Thanks for the help.....

I have the marina looking at my shore power set up this week.

I do not hear the GI relay chatter.....it only blinks red when ships systems AND shore power are connected.....
