We talked about it for about a year and finally got together to explore Lake Michigan. We all met at the Hammond marina and some straegic planning took place aboard Jnizi's beautiful boat.
Image

The next morning I followed "Serenity Forever" and "Sea Pickle II" on very calm water.
Image

We stop and took pictures of each others boats running across the calm water and continued towards Chicago. It wasn't long before the city started to take shape on the bow.
Image

First stop was Burnham harbor to look at a few boats. I think we all found one or two we liked.
Image

Next we attempted to lock through into the river but a barge decided to take a cruise down the river so we decided to head north and come back later.
Image

Image

Stopped for lunch and a swim several miles off shore. Jnizi and his Admiral complimented Firecadet on his grilling skills.
Image

Then after a run further north we headed back to the river. We all took turns posing with the city in the background.
Image

I think the picture of the "Sea Pickle II" belongs on a postcard.
Image

It was a real thrill going under Michigan Avenue in our boat!
Image

The trip back was an adventure with me trying to keep up with Firecadet and Bliss running hard to beat a storm. The Vista 278 handled the weather and waves great. I was glad I was running in a well made boat. We all made it back in time to see a nice sunset when we arrived in the harbor. That was a real reward for our work. We made 92.5 miles according to the GPS and about 7.6 hours running time.
Image

Thanks to Firecadet613, Jnizi, and Bliss36 for showing me around Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago. We had a weekend I will never forget!

All of your pictures could be a post card as Lake Michigan and Chicago are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Nice photos, Is that Navy pier? A few years back I went to Chicago for work, sure wish I could have seen the city from the water!!

Great pics! We just took the kids to Chicago for a long weekend. My son and I took a "speedboat ride" it was fun, but doesn't come close to what you guys experienced, that would be awesome.

Just curious, what was the water temp where you guys were swimming and how deep it is the water around the pier and the river downtown? The kids got in the water for a few minutes at the beach and it was cold.

According to the C-80, the water was around 78 off shore but 89 at Boater's Beach.

Depth was between 25 & 45 feet depending on where we were. The water clarity was outstanding. Being on the Illinois River, it was a luxury to actually see the props!

Great Pictures and looks like you guys had an awesome time.
I think this may be one of the first times that more than two members here have gotten together (or atleast that it was documented!)

Congratulations to you all for taking the time to get together and enjoy each others company.
