I know Brett is gone from forum, but thought that I would post my opinion of the 5k unit after using for a couple warm summers.
For us it is too small and or the boat is not insulated at all, we sit out in the beating sun all day and that little unit just can not keep up. At night for sleeping it does ok in the aft, but the V-berth just doesn't get any air let along any cool air. Going to add another vent behind the fridge under the counter to get some air up to the V-berth.
Also, having a hard time justifying cost of upgrade for the couple times a year that it is needed.
I know it will take more than is feasible to keep cabin cool when sitting in direct sun all day, with water temps in the upper 80's, air is 100 +, nothing is cool.
