I have found a place to store my boat for the winter. I live in New England and I have found a place that I am storing indoors with the temp maintained at 55 degrees all the time. I am replacing the electronics (new chartplotters, autopilot, sonar, adding 2 tvs and sat tv) on the boat over the winter so it will be a nice winter project.
The question I have is when the boat is pulled out of the water, what should I be doing with winterization. Obviously I am going to drain the fresh water, the waste etc and clean all that out, but what about the batteries? Do i need to open or close any sillcocks? Just want to be able to get your opinions as there are many of them out there.
I am thinking of leaving the batteries in there and keep them connected or from another post on the "boating banter" remove the negative and keep the positive? Not sure if that is for the cold weather or not. The garage is heated and the boat will be there from 10/24 to 5/1/ Any thoughts would be appreciated.

As to the batterers, if there AGM, just disconnect them. Then charge them up for an hour or so in the spring.

If there wet-cells, I would disconnect the batterers from the boat's battery switch and only leave the on-board charger hooked up. Every month or 6 weeks, turn the charger off & on. If is is a 3 stage charger and I am sure it is. It will re-check the battery's condition.
