I just finished installing radar on my V258. I am using Gamin's 740 with a 18HD dome. Too early to see how good it is!!
Sorry I can't anwer your question!! BUT I thought the Raymarine e7 has some nice features too it! Like Wi-Fi and bluetooth. It could make it much easier to hook things up down the road.
One thing I did do if it help, I had no common place to bring all the wires into and make connections up. As in VHF, AIS, GPS, fish finder and more. I did not want to use the engine compartment, too far away from the helm, but doable. I mounted a water tight box 11x15x3 under the helm, were your feet would go. It worked out good, I installed a NMEA2k hub and 12v sub panel in it.
