Here now, a not-to-scale, potentially useless mock-up of a 23" Samsung LCD on the bulkhead. I just have too much time on my hands today. A mount that allows it to pivot to better face the couch would be ideal - I have seen them before - maybe even in a shot of the 458.

They did not paint the bottom yet. they put it in the water because they don't have any room in the yard for it with all the winter storage still there. I can't be in my slip until April 15th so I am asking them to take their time. I was looking at Flat panel tv's on line today and found a 20" samsung that was the thinnest at just 2.5". They told me that the factory pre wired it for the flat panel. it is just a matter of getting the tv and then mounting. I would like to inset it if possible but I don't know how much room there is behind that area.

How did you insert your photos?? I can't seem to figure it out.

Sea trialed my new 358V on Thursday. With the 6.2 Mercs, no water, half fuel and 3 people on board, we topped out at 44.2 MPH on relatively calm seas. Not sure she'll have the low end torque I have with my 8.1's on the SR 340 but we'll see.

Can I just say how incredibly jealous my wife and I are of your new boat? First of all, your color scheme is georgous, secondly, you have our dream boat. (at least for now). Congrats and I hope you use the hell out of it and have a great time. Somebody once told me that the times you will have with friends and family on your boat can not be associated with a price tag.

Thanks woggy, and well said - I couldn't agree more! I don't take it for granted for one minute and yes, I will use the hell out of it! It's a great boat you've got there too - enjoy it to the max!

Looking at these pictures makes me miss ours more. But its not to long till we get her wet. Will be up next weekend to get her ready if the weather is good.

Friday when I was down at the dealer, the hull was taped and sanded. Not sure if they finished bottom painting as of yet. But yes she will be painted.

Congrats. Looks great. I got the same color scheme except I have the beige quilt on the interior. My dealer is preping her this week however when I checked it out over the weekend I noticed that the factory never installed the autopilot option that I ordered. Waiting to find out how they will handle that one. Also I was promised the polished chrome anchor and it didn't come through with that either. Time to put the squeeze on the dealer.

My dealer also just got in a 458 that was sitting in their lot. Man is that alot of boat. It had IPS drives, thrusters, underwater lighting and retractable swim platform. Makes the 358 look like a runabout. green with envy

IPS and thrusters? Isn't that overkill? I thought IPS was able to move the boat sideways and that would be good enough.

Looking at the length of that 458 up on blocks I don't know how IPS drives alone could move the entire boat sideways. I don't know exactly how the joy stick works but it may work in concert with the thrusters on something this big.

Yeah, well, look into how much more expensive a slip would be for the 458. That and the added fuel costs. The IPS certainly has efficiency going for it but it's still a lot of boat to push through the water.

Quick update for those who care... the shakedown weekend was brilliant. Not enough time for a full recap or to post pictures for a few more days, but the quick version...
Spent two full days and nights onboard tinkering with everything and running all systems. Only had the opportunity to get out on the water for about an hour. I'm happy to report that there were no surprises or major items for the punch list and the bottom line is, if I thought I was in love before, I know I am now.
Although I didn't push it too hard being its first run, my initial reaction to the performance yielded a big smile. Not only did the 5.7's move the boat out of the hole with greater torque than I anticipated, they even sound great. I was really pleased.
While the DTS shifters will take some getting used to, I love 'em already. And despite knowing what a feather touch they require, I mistakenly goosed the throttle my first time on em - so for your first time, EASY does it!
I now know that the ergonomics at the helm are not just great in theory, but in practice as well. Everything felt like it was where it should be and there's a lot to be said for the Raymarine display being front and center rather than off to the side.
ST70 install looks great - the integration is being completed this week and I'll have pictures and a parts list to share at some point.
Raymarine displayed on the salon TV is terrific - I highly recommend it (pictures coming).
First time seeing the full camper canvas in person - love it.
And the inner spring mattress in the V-Berth is not just good, it's great. And I'm a mattress snob.

More coming soon... land delivery to my home port at the end of next week! 8)

Wow, Sierra sounds magnificent !! I can hardly wait I take delivery of my 358 on April 30. Remind me, did you get the 5.7 volvo inboards or outdrives?? my biggest anticipation is how the power will feel compared to my old 340 searay that had inboard 7.2 liter. I ordered the 358 with the 5.7 Volvo inboards. My maiden voyage will be from Red Bank NJ in the Navasink river to Jersey City on the Hudson river. I officially take possesion in Jersey City so I only pay 3.5% sales Tax. Then out of the hudson and back to Red Bank. Nice thing is my dealer provides a captain that is fully knowledgable on all the systems in the boat for the whole day to ride with us. On the fuel flow meters what did you end up doing? my dealer says he can just add some fuel flow valves to the fuel lines feeding the engines, however I heard that depending on the system this can actually impede you fuel flow and reduce performance. I'd love to hear how you handled this and where you mounted the gauges. Good luck with her!!!! by the way did you name her??
