I should have ended up with that 318 in Tampa. Ended up going two years newer and better equipped

OMG, Jill's Thrill is STILL for sale, what is that, 3 or 4 years now ? I think you would be glad you did not get that one Fire.

Should be 4 years if not more. Not sure if it has any issues or not, besides a seller that was trying to force a short sale that wouldn't go through. Now that its repo'd it should be a quick sale.

I'm partial to the one I have...classic color band is a LOT of work to keep looking good!

All,

In searching for 318 Four Winns, I find quite a few for sale. Not quite like Sea Ray, but several. Is there a way to find out how many of these were made? And could this be a red flag? Are these hard to sell?

Right now, the worst selling category of all boats are 28' to 35' cruisers. Four Winns does not make as many boats as Sea Ray, does not sell as many, and their dealer network is in need of some help. Since the bankruptcy, they lost many dealers, and they are in the process of rebuilding that network now. With the recession, dealer floor plan financing taking a big hit, builders stopped making these high dollar boats to fill the pipeline. Dealers could not afford to stock several cruisers without the floor plan. So consequently, the last 3 years, many dealers only order boats from the builders when they have sold it. So less demand for this type boat from consumers, dealers not taking the risk of stocking them, which makes less of a supply to go along with poor demand.

Finding out how many were built will be difficult, if not impossible. # of boats made, is not related to the quality, and value of any boat. So if you had those figures, it would be of little use IMO. I'll not speak specifically of the 318 Vista, as it's not a boat I have owned, or had even considered, but those that do own them, really like them. It's a good boat if it fits your needs and budget.

I wouldn't say they are hard to sell. Any boat this size is not moving. With the election, the economy, and what Cap'n said....nothing in this size range is moving.

My wife and I really like our boat, it fits our needs nicely. But if this election doesnt go the RIGHT way on Tuesday, I am going to give some serious consideration on selling ours.

The 328 looks nice, but rather have a later model and smaller. It's pushing the limits of my lift and wonder how much additional benefits I'll get.

The 298 Vista looks interesting, and would probably work. For a clean one, the price isn't a huge difference, but some.

Question:
When did FW come out with the electronic power controls, and if one wanted, are they hard or practical to add? Worth it?

So are you asking when did Four Winns first offer Mercruiser's DTS and Volvo Penta's EVC ? Obviously Four Winns did not design either
of these systems, but they added it to their boats as soon as it was available from the engine builders. You can check mercruiser and
Volvo Penta on the internet if you need the exact date the systems were released for production.

Almost like re-inventing the wheel cost wise to retro-fit these systems to an older boat.

Dave,

Sounds like a great boat, but a bit newer than what I've been shopping and probably over my price range. There's a LOT of 318 on the market, in the $69 to $90 range, 04 thru 07s. There's 3 of them within 30 min of me that I'm going to look at. Gut feeling the way the market is, I'll be into one in the $50 to 70 range. Cream puff, low hours FWC, radar and all the goodies, I'll pay more.

On the other hand, I'll be giving my 270 Dancer away.
