I think ric was just talking about Alpine car stereo's. Since the Alpine marine head units have two or three remotes you can choose from, plus they have multi zone capability if you want it. Multi zone would be a big plus in a cruiser.

Just talked to a stereo guy and he says he may stop using Alpine because Alpine is going to stop supporting the units. I will let you know what I find out. Enjoy the long weekend! :)

Multi-zone is often done poorly. Usually one zone ends up with a limited feature set. Or there's some range of combinations that won't work, typically one you're most likely to use. Given how inexpensive head units are these days it's almost better to use more than one.

That said, some companies did seem to be putting efforts into better boat-oriented systems. Not previously known auto-audio makers either. Fusion or something like that?

At some point I'm considering replacing our Clarion head unit with 'something else'. Clarion's user interface is weak (at best). That and I'd like to have integrated support for Bluetooth, USB and aux inputs. Given that ours is down below I don't really have to use a marine unit. I'd just like to use one that supported two wired remotes. Of course I'd rather stick with the Clarion remotes but for the right improvements I'd consider running new wire.
