I wish I didn't have the grey water tank, kinda seems like a waste.... i hate I bought at the end of season, just fell in love with the boat and made a leap. Been boating in. 19'(or less) runabout for my entire life.... now I have to wait 5-6 months to really enjoy this boat.... So it's all research and questions til April.... thanks surface, I appreciate your responses

Depending on where you go boating and your boating lifestyle, you may or may not want to change anything. Looking in past Vista forum posts there have been a couple posts where others have converted to overboard discharge from sink drains and the shower sump.

We also have 2 tanks under the mid cabin berth, the one on the starboard side is the waste tank and the port side one holds flushing water for the toilet only. All our sinks dump overboard. I thought about removing the tank and installing a thru hull for the toilet so we could have all that room for storage but havent pulled the trigger on that project yet

Its gonna be a long winter for you for sure! I keep mine in heated storage and will often times grab a pizza, beer, and have friends come hang out on it with me...it really helps take the sting out of winter. If you start getting too depressed your welcome to come visit

Thanks Bliss! I hope I have a similar set up. I see more use of having 21 gal tank for toilet flushing water and letting the other water go over board.... i see a through the hull fitting near each sink on my pics, so I am hoping both sinks dump overboard. We boat in Shelbyville and have a lot come from the Chicagoland area, where do you boat?

We keep our boat slipped on the southern shore of Lake Michigan in Portage Indiana but travel all over with our trailer including a couple visits to Lake Shelbyville! We are overdue for a visit to our friends Flyer51 and TFD2001 so hopefully we can make it down there again next year. Did your 268 come with a trailer?

I have a trailer, but my wife wasnt so sure of putting it on and off the trailer, (she has been doing a 19' for 23 summers) so I bought a hoist and rented a slip at lithia springs marina for the year.

So taking an adventure with this one will be in 2018 probably. I enjoyed your blog, great stories and pics, beautiful family. We are at the other end, our daughter is in college and it's just me and my wife most weekends on our boat. I hope if you make it to Shelbyville, we can get together, been boating/camping there for 20 plus years. It's as good of a lake in Illinois as I have found.
