[quote="Brett248Vista"] One of my main reasons for teak was to get rid of the blasted, dingy white non skid, no matter what I do I can't keep it clean!

Can the synthetic teak just be glued down over the non skid?

Brett, does tt Custom supply the adhesive with it?

248Vista,

I do not know if what Defender has is the same stuff. What TT Custom Marine has is made by Plasdeck and is also on my shopping list, I am doing my cabin sole in teak/holly as well.

PlanetAlternative,

Yes the Plasdeck is glued down right over the non skid. The only time you would have to grind out non skid would be if we had the diamond style non skid (very raised) the sand finish we have is excellent for laying the teak over as it's low and uniform and won't cause the pannels to bulge or not lay flat. And yes TT Custom Marine supplies the adhesive (Bostik black moisture curing marine adhesive in sausage tubes and also the regular caulk gun stuff for finishing the edges after the install.)

Get ready to have your socks knocked off.. I am uploading photos as we speak.. Today was a nice day so I decided to lay all the teak out on the boat as it will be installed. So you get to see what it will look like, before it's actually done! I am biased, very biased, because I think it looks frickedn SPECTACULAR!

Nice job on the templates too as the fit looks pretty much perfect.

It looks AWESOME! Now I have to keep my wife away from this thread; we haven’t even taken delivery of ours and she’ll want it done too!!! :D

You have a very generous wife. At $960 for just the swimplatform alone, my wife threw her dinner at me when I told her. I admit, it looks awesome, but waaaay to pricey for a cheap S O B like me.

I guess it depends on how badly you want it.. $960 is CHEAP compared to what you pay from Four Winns. And to me, 960 isn't much at all, considering what the boat cost! (But I'm not married, I don't have kids... I didn't have a hard time making the justification).

That's it exactly. Wants and Needs. I want it, but don't need it. The wife doesn't want it unless it is free, and she doesn't need the swim platform covered. Now when it comes to new curtains and bedding for the boat, it's just the opposite. The only difference is, we WILL be getting new curtains and sheets.

If I was single, it would be a different story.

Same with me... I have no sheets for the bedding.. I have pillows and that's it! :) I wanted the teak, and I NEEDed the Windlass! :)

Nope Cattail not warm enough... It has to be in the solid 70's before I can lay this stuff!

If you notice my second set of posted photos, sixth photo down, there is a open expanse of white. That was my fault and it's driving me nuts. When I was making the templates I didn't think that area would stick out and because of that, I did not template it.

That was a mistake! So I spoke with Travis and I am going to make a new template that will be one contigious piece from the rear starboard side and will wrap around to cover the area I did not template. This will essentially seal up any gap and it will all look like one flowing piece of teak as it should.

Again my hat is off to Travis, all through this process he's helped me, given me tips, tricks, supplies and moral support! :) If you nee/want any synthetic teak done, I seriously beleive you won't find a better individual to do buisness with!

OMG! That's freaking beautiful, Brett. I'm soooooo envious! I just called TT Custom Marine, but no one picked up the phone (??). I must have this on my 328! I want to do the entire cockpit and swim platform like you did. They probably won't have a template for my 328, so I have a couple of questions for you:

1) How long did it take you to mark out the template for your boat?
2) What did you use to create the template?
3) How long did it take TT to create the pieces from your template?
4) How long was it, from the time you sent in your template to when you received the completed decking?
5) I know you don't want to say exactly, but was the total purchase under $5000?
