OK how do you turn on the Sony radio? If I turn the exterior radio on all works fine until I turn it off. Then it will never come on again. I have to turn off the cabin main to reset it, then it will work again.

Second how do you turn off the big amplifier? I'm guessing that it's always on even when the radio is off, it must draw some serious current.

Finally anyone else have problems with the tach's? My port tach seems to read very high (+1000 RPM) at times, even when the engine sounds like its the same speed as the starboard engine.

Press the source button repeatedly to get to the source you want and it should come on. On the v358 the amp is behind the sofa in the cabin closest to the electrical control panel. I think it would only be on when it is getting a signal input from the radio but that is just a guess.

What engines do you have?

Well the radio should go on by pressing the source button, but it doesn't. After I turn off the cabin main, the radio will turn on by pressing the source button. If I turn the radio off using the off button, all the way off, dark display. Then the radio will not come back on. I guess it's just a nusance for now.

The boat has VP 5.7 gxi dp outdrives, no smartcraft. The tachs should be just plain old tachs.

If you do not have digital throttles and you are setting the throttles in the same physical spot and the rpms are off, it is likely your cables need adjustment.

I have digital throttles so that doesn't seem to be the issue. With both throttle in neutral soemtimes both enginees read 750 RPM and sometimes one will read 1500 RPM and the other will read 750 RPM. They both sound like they are at the same RPM. I'm thinking flaky tach or flaky wiring.

Sounds like an electrical issue. I did have an issue similar to this on my Sea Ray but it was when the boat was underway. I had a faulty spark plug wire and it would pop off the spark plug messing with the RPM's.
