Brett,

I am very sorry to hear this news. When the dust settles, take a quiet cruise by yourself. Dedicate it to him and all the great memories you have had together on the boat.

We all take a lot of things for granted folks. EVERY time you drop your kids off from school, put them to bed, wave to your wife as she drives away from the house, ALWAYS leave them with kind words. You just never know when their time will come.

Brett, if you need anything, your online family is only a PM and a call away. Dont forget it. We all share the same joys in life. Even though most of us have not met, we are still a tight group of online buddies and are here for each other.

Prayers sent.

Couldn't have said it better. Our hearts and our prayers go out to you and your family, Brett.

Andy

Brett,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this tough time.

Yes, you made your father very proud. Take comfort in that and please take care.

Brett,
My heartfelt condolensces. When my father died we hadn't spoke for 10 years. I'm glad this wasn't the case for you, in a strange way you are a very lucky man.

Brett, I just saw your post, I'm so, so sorry. You might recall as soon as I bought my 248 my grandfather passed suddenly. He had a sailboat and more or less got me into boating. I was incredibly devastated that I couldn't take him out or even show him the boat. I keep his spirit in my sails when I think about boating. I'm sure you'll do the same. And as everyone said, let me know if I can help you with something - I'm not that far away.

With my deepest condolences,
Brenden
I'm teared up too

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Brett

I am truly sorry to have heard this news and my heart goes out to you.

I just spent a three day weekend with my Father and Brother and as much as they can be a pain in the rump... I would be lost without them! I will cherish this past weekend and will make it a point to arrange for some more while we are all healthy.

Take some time but please don't forget about your friends here.. You are a valuable member here and I am sure your Father was proud of all the accomplishments you have made in your life (even if he didn't say it!) the fact that he was always there to help you shows he was proud to stand beside you and work with you.

Brett,
I can't imagine what it is going to be like to lose a parent. I am still fortunate to have both of mine. My thoughts are with you.

Do me a favor... don't go rushing into things by selling your boat. Your Dad would likely have wanted you to continue living your life and enjoying it and living it to its fullest. Use the boat as a wonderful, pleasant reminder of all the good times you had together and the passion for boating that it sounds like you two shared.

Just a thought, not a sermon.

You have our deepest sympathies. Keep enjoying boating as I'm sure your father would want you to. I'm sure it will still put smiles on your face thinking about him.
