No memo missed! Boat comes in tomorrow:)

I was stuck between two boats at a dealer in NJ, a 2007 318 and a 2007 278, and we just couldn't reach a reasonable deal on either, then out of the blue i found a dealer here in illinois that was willing to give me a 278 at my price so i grabbed it! Next day my NJ guy calls and wants to sell me either of the two. I don't want to swap out for another 278, but maybe a 318, she is a beauty:).

But since I put the listing up, a couple problems have risen. One, my marina has no 30+ slips available. Two, I don't want to wait three weeks for shipping, and Three, I don't know if I can manage, a 318 just yet...I am coming from a 22 foot cuddy cabin:). I feel like maybe I should use the boat and see how the season turns out on it. I'm going to sleep on it and decide when i see my 278 tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Upgrade or try out the 278?

oh and the 2007 318 is MSRP: 185k and selling is right around the 120k mark, plus or minus a few hundred.

Is the 318 a new leftover? If so, buy it if you can figure out where to keep it. Knowing what I know now, I would have skipped my Sea Ray 260DA when I moved up from a 22' bowrider. Loved the boat, happy I did it and fortunately I did very well on the trade, but I wasn't even all the way through my first six month season with the 260 when I made the decision to upgrade. And mine is a common story.

How much can you afford to lose on the 278, now that it is a 'used' boat? It became 'used' as soon as you signed the papers.

I would say keep it and try it out for a season.
