At least on the Rinker boats that I have seen...

1) Some really WEIRD layouts... great for parties, but not so great for families (IMHO)
2) Materials used didn't feel up to par with Four Winns
3) Resale on those boats (at least in Seattle) is HORRENDOUS

I will clarify...

On the Rinker equivalent to the 318 (they call it the 310) - here is where it fails against the FW
---- Swim platform is half the size of the 318
---- Boat itself is only 3 inches narrower, but doesn't have the side gunnels to walk up (which I use EVERYTIME I am out)
---- FW u-shape is a great way to contain kids... The Rinker is more open - maybe better suited for adults. The FW can also 'fill in' leaving a great lounge/sun spot for the ladies when they don't want on the bow
---- On the side, smaller TV than the FW on the bulkead
---- The fridge is half the size of the 318
---- The midcabin is a bed... the couch on the 318 is awesome as another place for people to hang out and also sleep.

And re-iterating - materials and craftsmanship seemed sub par to both Sea Ray and FW from what I have seen at boat shows.

No need to clarify for me, the original post was not about the quality of materials or craftmanship of a any given brand, merely asking what you would like to see different in Four Winns cruiser cockpits. Along with an example of a cockpit design from another builder.

I should have known better than to list the builder of that boat...........

Good point,

Back to keeping the thread on track. :D

I still want a hydraulic swim platform. Does that count?

Cougar I agree with your thoughts, a bow wash down would be great, and the option for a hard top would also really nice not to mention the A/C and Heat. I think sometimes FW is a little slow when it comes to the tricks and toys.

I took note of this on "the other cruiser", the first time I saw it. I like the room AND the seating that it provides.

Apparently so did TBM.......

The only thing I would add to a rinker would be a six inch diameter hole, preferably below the water line
The only good rinker is a sinker....

Definitely not a fan of having the grill incorporated into the cockpit area. Somewhere out back.. If anything it's gotta be on the rail or on the transom like the 408. Still wondering why the hell we couldn't get a strut for the anchor hatch cover though??
