No $$ right now, be a few weeks. Plus after changing the engine oil, cleaning/waxing the whole thing, pulling the drive and aligning the engine (it was so far off I cant believe it wasnt done, someone just put a new gimbal bearing in and its easy to see why the old one failed), changed the drive oil, replaced the trim sender and quite a few other things I just want to use it for a couple weeks The previous owner really kept it up nice, but its been at a dealer for over a year and I think that was harder on the boat than someone using it, turned out really nice though and I'm happy with it overall.



Yea, the vinyl on mine is clear as can be, its just so wavy I cant even see well during the day, night time I just take it off. My old boat was a 23' Bowrider and the windshield filler was a little distorted looking through it but nothing like this one, only difference I can see is it was a lot tighter. Seems like it was the same material. I was just hoping to extend my boating season using it, I'll have to wait a bit for funds to rebound before I can get it done. Another option was the canvas guy can do it some semi-rigid lexan type stuff, cant roll it up but he claims it will look like glass when its done, downside its nearly 1000.00 for just for the windshield extention.

BTW, the pic in your avatar looks familiar, did you used to hang around on ls1tech.com?

I ended up getting a new windshield connector made, I was going to to use stratoglass but it takes some special cleaners so I just went with regular 40 mil (I think FW uses 30 mil) and he made it a lot tighter. Its a huge improvement and it doesnt sag at all, little more than I wanted to spend but I think it was worth it. Few cell phone pics on a foggy/rainy day.

Yes, its the same kind of material that FW uses, just thicker. I considered the other two options, stratoglass and merk?? (sem-rigid lexan) but both were quite a bit more money. Even if this only lasts two seasons its only 150.00 to replace the clear panals and it will be like new again. We'll see how it holds up after some use.

It will hold up fine. We replaced our entire front on our 268 3 years ago, and it was still clear as can be after 3 seasons in a slip.
I think we paid about $200 for the entire front piece at a local shop. Good move to stay away from the Lexan polycarbonate stuff.
It's nice, but more of a pain than it is worth if you take it down often as we do.

Thats just to replace the 40 mil in the new windshield connector, the whole new piece cost 500. I maybe could have got it done cheaper if I shopped around more and brought the boat to them but 4-600 was the going rate in the area, but the guy that did it had it done in a day and fixed a couple other things on the bimini.

Capn, I wish I could have got it done for 200, they typically charge around 75.00 a panel just to replace the clear parts around here. Mine was so far off (and 4 years old) so no one wanted to try shortening up the old one and just replace the glass with the thicker stuff, they all said I would be better off with the new piece. These have velcro all around, plus the rubber seal where it goes against the windshield, plus he spent a couple hours on the boat making the template so it fit perfect. I didnt think it was overpriced but who knows, either way its done

It sounds like they did a great job on yours for the price. Our glass was all that was bad, so we just had that replaced. That is probably
why it was not to expensive, plus I just took the entire front piece off the boat and took it to them. I'm going to squeeze out another season on our glass in the Monterey, before replacing it with the same stuff.

Mine sagged bad, so just replacing the clear part wouldnt have worked out since it wasnt right to begin with. It would have been cheaper to bring them the boat but I cant load this one on the trailer myself and I just wanted to get it done. I had to put a lot less money in this than I thought I would so I splurged a little by letting someone come to me and do it.
