I've found that a small tarp suspended with bungees between the railings over the open hatch will stop most light rain - and it also seems to help capture the breeze. It blocks direct sunlight in daytime, too.

Someone must be bored! Nothing beats waking up in a secluded cove...nothing. When we slip it'll be the big lake, but it will be with the next boat. We have a great thing going with the 268. Bliss36 has touched on all its great points as evident in his summer trip. The next boat will cost a lot more to fuel up among other things.

All that being said....I will be near a 328 this month and am already scheduled to see it.

Many of you have followed my thread, "Found Another One".....

Our first night on the boat, in the slip was great. One of the things I got to do with my 6 year old daughter was simple. We played Go Fish. Our oldest daughter was still sleeping (she would sleep her life away) and my wife was also still sleeping. After making my little girl some cereal, we sat at the table and just played games. It felt great to spend some good, undivided time with her. I work a TON of hours in the car business and the boat has always been our escape and given us some family time. Buying the Vista makes it even better.

I hear ya on the family time. Our son is 8 years old. He spent his first overnight on our boat when he was 8 days old. At 15 days old we took him across the lake from Canada into Michigan (only about 25 miles across).

I can't think of any other place I would prefer to be on the weekends other than having my wife and son on our 328. I don't think we could have the same quality "family time" by hanging out at home. To many other distractions.

Enjoy your family time, time seems to go by real quick...........

The great thing about the larger cruisers (the 298 qualifies as larger for me) is the amount of room in the cabin. On boats that size and larger you can sit at the table and play cards while somebody sleeps in the V-berth and another sleeps in the mid-berth. You can't do that on the smaller boats that don't have a seperate table unless you go topside....something you don't want to do on a cold morning when you have the heater pumping away. And speaking of the heater....pretty nice, huh? I was amazed at how warm it kept the boat the first time we used ours. I don't recall the exact outside temp the first time we used ours but it was somewhere in the 40s and the heater easily kept the cabin at 75 degrees.

The heater works great. It was in the LOW 30's our first night and pretty windy....we were plenty warm.
