Never seen painted docks ? and if they do paint I hope they won't spray paint it.

I would not let it go. It sound like it is becoming a habit. I would not push too hard until you ask the other boater if they have the same problems. Than I would go up as a group!! The last thing you want is for them to do something to your boat. In this way, you are not the only one complaining

I know what you mean, everybody handles there lines there own way!! And yes, I would not call it a nautical knot, but there is a wrong way and a right way it tying a line to a cleat. More so with high winds, other wise the line will jam on the cleat and you will have a hard time getting it off.
