I have the 14lb Delta for our 248. That thing has never let me down in the much or sand! No problems when deploying from the windless.

Go with this...I've got the smaller version on my 268, have not had any issues.

I use a 7lb anchor on my V258. http://www.fortressanchors.com/exclusive_features.html

With 30' of chain, in sand or mud it works better than a plow anchor, at least for me.

In 3'waves, 20mph wind, in 43' of water with 225' of rode it held until we were ready to leave an hour later. For a $100.00 it works.

I'm new on the forum, so hello to everyone. I've got a 298 as well and swear by the bruce anchor, mine is a 10kg (22lbs) and it works very well in a variety of bottom conditions where we boat in Georgian Bay. We anchor out every weekend, no docks for us, and it's never pulled out on us, even during some quite severe storms which had us pretty worried!

Well, I went with this one:

http://www.boatinggearcenter.com/p-55-plow-anchor.aspx

Although I went with the thought and advice to get the larger, 22lb anchor, I am not sure if it was the right choice. I feel that I should have gone with one size smaller. It is a VERY snug fit and I am afraid it might bank into the boat on its way in.

A fortress would not even come close. The U.S. Navy uses them on there smaller boats,

Better than a Bruce or a Delta: http://www.fortressanchors.com/AnchorTe ... lland.html

I have the fortress as a second anchor, It is awesome for that but unless you are only putting it into sand it would not be my first choice

Ok, lets revisit this....

Which would you buy:

http://www.boatinggearcenter.com/p-55-plow-anchor.aspx
The 22lb anchor is $73.16

or the Delta:
http://www.boatinggearcenter.com/p-57-d ... chors.aspx
The 22lb anchor is $182.99

I bought a used 35lbs Delta for our 328 and couldn't be happier. We've rafted with other boats at the beach with just our anchor out and never slipped at all. As the comment above, chain is important to keep the anchor angle correct. This spring I'm upgrading to 40' of chain, that said the Delta worked well with the 6' I had last year.

So, my vote goes to the Delta - but given how similar the 298 and 328 are, maybe you can fit a 35lb? It fits perfectly in the 328.

Steve.

I bought the 22lb version from MarineMax and its a TIGHT fit as seen in the picture. I cant see any possible way that a 35lb would fit.
