The mechanic said that the fuel pressure just needed to be adjusted.. we were told that low fuel pressure was the same as too much pressure. It ran fine when we got it. So we assumed it was fixed. Anyway thanks for the help ric and capn Morgan.. I appreciate it..apparently nobody else has bought anything that was almost new and it had a small issue. It was the low pressure fuel pump...since it is the weakest point of this boat....

I would've replaced the low pressure fuel pump first. The high pressure fuel pump whining is a symptom, not a diagnosis of a bad fuel pump off the bat. People have gotten bad gas, had a partially clogged fuel seperator, had their low pressure pump go bad, low voltage, etc... and had a whining high pressure fuel pump.

For the record, I know its the more expensive, less preferred (during boating season with all the expenses) but Volvo Penta recommends replacing the whole fuel pump module (low pres/high pres, fuel seperator) when one of the pumps go bad. They recommend against replacing 1 of the pumps ala carte. But I know that during peak boating season, I'd probably have done the same thing...lol

Chalk up another victim of the failed government mandated ethanol program. When are you people going to wake up and quit buying that government piss water that does nothing but poison your boat's engines?

Well Volvo should be ashamed, obviously many many people have had a lot of trouble with these. It is absurd, I have a 24 year old boat with the original pump. I guess I will stick with this 'outmoded, inferior' tech that WORKS!!!

Oh and here in NY, high cost capital of the US we have NO choice thanks to too much gov't. So my choice is to stick with tech that works. No FI/cat converter boats for me. No thanks EPA
