Interesting topic, I have a 318 and with everything except my family there is a price. What is your price range. Owned since new in 08 .

Dave,

Sounds like a great boat, but a bit newer than what I've been shopping and probably over my price range. There's a LOT of 318 on the market, in the $69 to $90 range, 04 thru 07s. There's 3 of them within 30 min of me that I'm going to look at. Gut feeling the way the market is, I'll be into one in the $50 to 70 range. Cream puff, low hours FWC, radar and all the goodies, I'll pay more.

On the other hand, I'll be giving my 270 Dancer away.

2006 was the first year for the 318 Vista.......

The port side lounge is one of the main reasons we looked at the 298, then the 328. If you want a newer boat due to looks, the 298/328's are perfect, modern styling (same basic look from 1999 to 2006) - if you find one that was babied, you can get an older boat that looks new and costs less. We love the 328 - I found everything in the 298 just a little tight, and the 328 opened up all those areas just a little bit. It's also large enough that I won't feel the need to go bigger anytime soon. The extra beam is incredible, I've watched other boats of similar length roll around while on the hook at the beach, and ours is barely moving.
Big 328 fan here (obviously, I have one :D ), but the draft is 42" with the drives down, and that's something you can't change.

That 04 for 69k is a 328...not a 318.

Right you are! Thanks for the correction Mike, for some reason I've always had 42" in my head.

Mike,

Thx for posting.... I looked at the 328 and 318 today, side by side.... very similar.
328 was noticeably wider, both in the cockpit and below. Head room was less, and the aft cabin was smaller. Draft, drives up, 28 vs 26 in. I could probably flip a coin on either. Not enough difference. Both nice vessels.

Firecadet,

Sent you a PM.... but not sure if it went thru. Shows in the "out" box and don't know how to get it out of there... so if you didn't get it, let me know.

Or..... since a port lounger is a must. This might be worth a look.

We liked the looks of the 290 Chap a lot as well, it was on our short list when we were moving up to a larger cruiser from our previous 248 Vista, and they make nice boats. We checked that model out in person comparing it to the 298 layout which was our 1st choice. We felt the narrower beam was a negative, it did seem smaller inside, and we were also looking for a dedicated V-berth, but they are a very nice boat.

Seevee,
There is an 08 318 on Boat Trader in the Daytona area, listed at 88, its at a dealer so you should be able to get them down quite a bit. The 08's have a hinge on the radar arch that lets you fold them down for trasport :D Smart idea. I just purchased an 08 318 that was listed in the high 80's an got it for the mid 70's. Awesome boat you will not be disappointed. That one looks identical to mine.
Good Luck :D :D

Still Shopping, and thanks for all the replys so far.

I think I've nailed it down to the 310 Chaparral, 318 Four Winns, or the Formula 31PC.

I believe I like the Chap a bit better than the Four Winns... very close but better cabin, couch area and aft cabin, also much better engine access. Otherwise pretty close... am I missing anything? Looking at 06 to 08 boats.

The Formula appears to be a step up in quality to both but at a higher price, heavier and more fuel burn. However, the quality looks great and seem to be in a class above everything I've looked at. Comments?

Thanks
Seevee

All, I pulled the plug and pushed the money across the table and got title to my "new" boat, and am happy. Now, I can start spending money!

Overall, it was a very good purchase. Needs some TLC stuff, but the price reflected that and the seller was a real good guy (which makes all the difference).
