** Ignore the Keel to top of windshield number unless you order the now optional taller windshield. Also already was told from FW that if ordered with the V6's you are going to wish you had the V8's... already priced this boat out and it probably will fall around the $169,999.00 range with V8's, A/C and heat, underwater lights, and Nav package.

I agree with many that the lines of the boat need a little work, especially that bar that sweeps from the windshield back. But, overall, I like it. The tall windshield could use a little tweaking, but its an outstanding idea. Gives you great visibility, yet still allows air through the cockpit. Moving the galley up top is also an excellent idea, IMHO. With a few design tweaks, I think it will be a very marketable boat. But, that's just my 2 cents (reduce to 1.25 cents due to current economic conditions).

Is hope that is 170k retail, and not a discounted sale price?

I like the taller windshield... I don't like the whisker lookin' things.

Ugh, that thing is just butt ugly.

For me the tall windshield would be unsafe. I find salt spray causes a lot of lost visibility. I prefer to be able to stick my head in the wind and see with my own eyes. That and no recreational boat ever has decent enough wipers. But those are just rational excuses, I still can't get past the fact that it's just plain fugly.

That and are they TRYING to ensure lawsuits? Putting the grill right next to the transom entrance? WTF? If anything, swap it with the icemaker. Get it AWAY from where people are going to naturally rest their hands when trying to come through the transom.

About the only thing to support is the elimination of the cooktop down in the galley. We never use ours and pretty much never plan on using it. There's no decent ventilation down below. That and I have no desire to find out how expensive it would be to replace the adjacent cabinets and vinyl due to cooking issues.

I don't like the looks of the tall windshield either. But seeing cougar's pictures in his sig. also reminds me that the eisenlass for the camper top is ugly also. Every boat I see with the top up and eisenglass in reminds me of a guy with a bad toupee. Having the windshield and the eisenglass at two different angles just looks wrong.

I would still like to see one in person. I know from the automotive world that some cars just look bad in pictures but look better when you see them for real.

Good to see you and your positive attitude back Bill. :D I can see where you are coming from about how the grill is in close proximity to areas where people might venture, but do you know how many people have their grills attached either to the transom or to the swim platform itself? Not many places you can put a grill on a 30 footer and it be out of the way.

If the choice is a permanent fixture I'll have to warn guest about, over and over, or using a portable one then which one is a much more sensible option? Or just change the design to move it away from the natural handhold area at the transom. A portable one presumably comes along with a bit of ritual involving it's setup, serving to make people more aware of it's presence and risk. Personally I prefer having a grill that can be removed quickly in the event of a fire. I'll dump that sucker overboard in a second if things go wrong. That and take it home to use more powerful cleaning tactics against it. It's tough keeping built-in grills properly cleaned. Yeah, they look good in sales brochures but in practice they're not without hassles.

I'd just rather not see it placed there, that just seems plain stupid.

" A canvas awning extends the hardtop to provide shelter when needed, but collapses easily to let the sunshine in. The feeler-like protrusions off the arch are "extended support arms," according to Four Winns. " (with aft facing docking lights)

The V-berths are only 5' 10" (1.78 m) long. The mid-berth is 6' 8" (2.03 m) long and 5' 0" (1.52 m) wide.

 MSRP with diesels is $232,308, vs. $172,692 for the 4.3-liter Volvo Pentas, the least expensive gas option. The 5.0L Volvos list for $180,462, plus $8,615 in the U.S. for catalyzed engines to meet emissions requirements; the 5.0 Mercs are $181,869, plus $7,000. (No emissions upcharge is listed for the small Volvos.) Both Volvo and MerCruiser offer joystick controls, for $21,538 and $25,054 more, respectively. If you don't want a joystick, add a bowthruster for $7,385.

I wonder if that pricing includes destination...

Heck, does it include the navigation/radar package? Probably not a genset...

So, for a new 305 with a pair of 5.0's, you're going to be well into 200k+ MSRP.

Even with a nice 25% discount (if you can get that anymore in the industry), that's a 150k boat. Yeouch.

Anyone who wants a 2008 318 with 5.7 EVC's and every other option you could imagine - I'll sell it to you for 150k. ha ha!

I really wonder if they priced themselves out of the US Market for 30 footers for the near future...

I was up north last week at a FW dealership and the owner mentioned that FW main market focus right now is in Europe. He said
that about 60% of their business is primarily in Europe so the pricing and style is starting to make sense. He also is starting to
gravitate towards Crownline and "may" be moving from FW. :(

My dealer dropped Four Winns for Crownline this year...

Winnisquam picked up Crownline...

That'll put a dent in the FW numbers going forward (and I am sure FW isn't happy about it).

Since last Thursday....... The same article was also on Czech and Polish websites 10 days ago, but a bit difficult to
translate.

Another indication, IMO, where FW's focus on selling this boat and most of their line of boats is currently. Overseas.
Can't really blame them, they are just jumping on the band wagon (albeit a little late) with the other domestic builders
like Sea Ray, Cruisers, Chaparral, Regal that have had a much larger presence overseas in the last year than Four Winns.
The boat market is rebounding much faster there than it is here in North America, and they all have to go where the sales
are to keep their doors open.

With regards to dealers dropping the FW line of boats, get used to it in the short term at least, dealer confidence in the
brand and company support is at an all time low. It will take some time for that to change, but it will.......... eventually.

Missed that. Guess I've been too focused elsewhere at the moment.

But I digress...
