Its a thin shim of metal with a raised ridge in between the holes. I bought the kit and the instructions aren't updated like the ones you found, but I found them also so I did use the copper spray. Word of caution they are freaking sharp, I had one side sticking out when installing and pushed it in just pressure and it cut me. Has anyone actually done the timing procedure? I tried it and motor dies immediately after unplugging distributor plug.
