We will only go after a good boat, at the right price.

Doggg, it's gotta be. Since he stated this earlier in the thread. I'm sure it does not have a Sony stereo either.

fire...how did the sea trial/survey go? Everything in as good a shape as you had planned?

Survey/Sea Trial went well. A few minor issues, nothing like the tan boat had though. This boat sat for quite a while, although it was inside in rack storage and properly winterized. We countered back with the results, and she came down more than enough on price to cover it. Should close on it within the next week.

Cool .....

I wasn't really content with the photos that you sent me, of the tan boat.

I like this boat, plus it has all your options!

Well we were thinking about the tan boat a lot. The survey found some stuff, and the cost to rebottom paint, and get the portible gen, we were at the cost of this AL boat. Now that we knocked a few more off the price, its a no brainer. And the trailer is in new condition to boot.

Cool Congrats, you lucky dog. If you're ever in our waters it certainly wouldn't break my heart for the locals seeing that tied to my wharf.

Good...glad everything went well. Before you tow that beast all the way home. Make sure you have someone look at the trailer real close. You mention it has been racked stored. Meaning the trailer probably sat outside and probably neglected. Brakes/rotors can rust very fast in those conditions.

Good point WD. There is a friend in our marina that only uses his trailer to tow his cruiser to the ramp, and then back home at the end of the season. He stored the boat outside, and in the spring the brakes and rotors were real rusty. He managed to tow the boat the 5 miles to the ramp and get it launched, one brake worked, the other was frozen. He stored it outside for the rest of the season, and in the fall, both brakes were so frozen and rusted, they were practically welded to the rotors. He had to have all new brakes put on and it was quite expensive. You can't be too careful when pulling a load like a 268 when it comes to trailer brakes. Hopefully, this is not the case with Fires' boat trailer.

There is some rust on the rotors, not sure how severe. They said it came into that marina just fine last year on the trailer....

But that was a year ago........ make sure they are 100% okay when you haul it from Alabammie to Indiana. Better safe than sorry.

Trailer is getting checked out before I pick it up. I don't want any surprises along the way, especially since it only has one set of brakes on its trailer.

Good. What are you towing the boat & trailer with ? Hopefully not your Dango.

Yep. Friend of mine used to bring boats back from the US. Some had trailers others did not. In one instance he brought back a 26' and needed to purchase a trailer while there. He brought it back and had it in the lake; it all went well. However, one evening we were sitting on the trailer having a beer and I noticed that the bracket that secured the front and rear spings together and to the trailer had not been bolted to the frame! He had towed that boat 16-20 hrs on the highway with both axels on the right hand side secured only at the outer-most points front and back - and not in between. On a brand new trailer. Sooo lucky.

Depending on when we close, might be having it hauled back.

I believe it. I just saw this trailer on Sunday, and the only iffy part I could see was the rust on the brake rotors. I wish I took more time to look at them now....
