Cleaned the strainer for the genset yesterday. while it was a little dirty only, it did have the equivalent of a teaspoon of seagrass in the bottom of the strainer. Upon restart, the system circulated water finally and the power on the AC breaker looked OK.

Noticing that the genset seems to surge. Is this normal? It has never purred exactly.

Thanks,

Jay

I'm assuming you have a Kohler 5E. They are notorious for fowling the plugs. If the genset is surging chances are under load the voltage will fluctuate.

I would change out the spark plugs and see how it runs then. Made a world of difference with mine.
