Anyone have luck changing the water pressure regulator on the hose connection to increase water pressure / flow? Sinks, shower and head work fine with boat's water tank and pump use. Pressure / Flow is weak when connected to hose. Flow from hose is strong and I keep a fine mesh screen (clean) on the inlet to the pressure regulator connection in transom locker. With no known blockage, it seems to be regulator related. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Paul |

You might temporarily remove the inlet screen just to make sure it isn't too fine; substitute a regular hose gasket. If you believe the onboard plumbing can take the dock supply pressure (mine has run at 55psi fine for years), you can replace the regulator fitting with a straight-through fitting, if necessary on a plate to cover the larger regulator mount hole. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Boat-Marine-Stainless-Steel-Water-Inlet-Hose-Fitting-/290615242985 Be aware, though, that the regulator also serves as a check valve so you should put a check valve in the fitting line to prevent a battle with onboard pressure when connecting and disconnecting the hose. |

I absolutely hate the Jabsco 44410-1000 unit installed by FW. I went thru two for different problems I now installed a Shurflo unit http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?pat ... 3&id=10361 little larger so had to make adapter plate, but much better pressure and much easier to talke hose on/off also without dripping. Or you can cut hole 1/4" larger. Love it. |

I had a similar problem a couple years ago and it was the check valve holds between the fresh water pump from the tank and the fresh water hose feed. The check was replaced and have not had a problem since. |

Thanks for the input. I did remove all filters, screens, etc. to ensure no flow restrictions. No improvements. Looks like I'm going for the replacement regulator. If I can find the upgraded model, I'll try that first. I did install a modification that eliminates the hose connection leaks and potential for breakage. I permanently installed a 90 deg elbow and a sur-flow in-line screen filter to prevent "chunks" and alge from getting to the boat. It's very easy to clean and has a quick disconnect that makes hose on/off connection easy! |
