Hey All,
I have a bunch of TV questions, so any help would be great.
I have a 12v Sharp EDTV that does not pick up local channels over the air so we are looking to upgrade.
Has anyone replaced their stock tv and did you replace it with another 12v or a regular home model?
Where is the power ran from for the tv, is there a 12v port behind the Breaker panel in the cabin?
I also see an antenna line ran to the tv but I do not have a tv antenna on the radar arch. Any idea what it is connected too?

Thanks,
Jon

Our boat did not have a TV, We added one. Went with a 22" HD 110v and added a power inverter. As cheap as little TVs are any more. Buy what fits your budget and install. If you need to add a power inverter, also fairly easy, but buy a true sine wave as it produces cleaner power, will have less static on screen. But if you search a little, 12v can be found just about everywhere also.

Do a search on either topic. Should find more than enough info to get you going.

As for antenna, can not help. Other than, start pulling things apart and figure it out, thats what I do.

Not all LCD tvs are able to accept digital signals, you could just buy a converter box and it will probaby allow you to watch local tv once you get an attenna installed. Here's a converter that will work off 12v.

Are you sure that the antenna cable is not the shore cable tv hookup?

The TV antenna is hidden in the headliner on a 288... not sure why but that's where FW put it.

We have a 288 also and I've been wanting to replace the tv and add a Shakespeare antenna but I've been afraid to tackle it. I'm also worried that I won't pick up anything in my area. Some of the sailboats in the marina have them and pick up some channels but they're mounted on the top of the masts. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
