Hello everyone, Hope the season has/is going well for you all. I noticed I was getting water under the forward bilge compartment and just assumed it was water moving from rear bilge to forward bilge. Turns out that wasn't the case at all. The hose from the shower drain to the shower sump box separated from the sump box after the plastic inlet on the sump box broke off inside the hose. Basically only about half of the water going down the shower drain made it to box. I ended up removing the floor to the shower to get access (six screws + cut through some silicone). I was surprised to find that the sump box was held in place using velcro and not screwed in. I think this may have contributed to the failure of the plastic connection by allowing the box to move around. It could have also been something as simple as over tightening the hose clamp when the boat was manufactured. Looking at replacing the Rule sump box with an Attwood 750 shower sump. Appears to have a better design overall than the Rule 800 it is replacing. Any thoughts? |

I would do the same thing. In fact I did on our boat. The attwood cover has a nice seal on it where the rule doesnt. You can access the sump on your 268 in the floor of the little closet, it's cramped but there is access. Good luck. |

Another vote for the attwood sump. I replaced it on my boat as a preventative measure. |

I'll be ordering up the Attwood sump and installing it next week. Thanks for the input! About that access panel on the floor next to the head... not sure if it's a defect in the boat or not, but that panel is partially covered by wood trimming that holds the cabinetry together. In order to take that panel off, I had to remove the cabinet door as well as trimming running along the floor of the closet. Wasn't that big of a deal, but required about 10 screws to be taken out. |
