This weekend we had a great opportunity to open the boat up and get her moving. It was just myself and my wife on the boat, about 1/2 full of fuel. The water was quite smooth and I saw a good change to get it up. We hit right at 39.4mph according to my GPS, which honestly surprised me a bit. I dont run her like that as we just like to relax and cruise closer to the 30mph mark.

So, those with a 298, what have you acheived? Ours has 5.0L Volvo engines.

aguyindallas - I'll bet if you point your boat in the direction of "Party Cove" and let your boat see those bikini girls that your boat will get all revved up and get ya over 40 MPH for sure. :)

Mike.

Don't think I've hit 40 yet. Not quite wide open coming in today and we were around 38 mph on the GPS. Wife, 4 kids and me aboard with just shy of half tank of fuel.

Dock mate in front yesterday definitely made me want to move up (but the kids might want to go to college!)

Beautiful V458 with IPS joystick. They backed out of the dock last night smoother than I can navigate through Wal-Mart.

For what its worth the Fourwinns.com specs list a 1999 298 Vista with 5.0 DP's to have a top speed of 40-43 mph.

When trying to reach your top speed, one must trim your drives up quite a bit as compared to normal cruising.
