One of my hatches (Lewmar Concept) was broken at the hing on my 2000 298 Vist last year when I had it propped slightly open by the lock/release handle and a guest stepped on it. In addition, the rubber seal on both of them needs to be replaced. Any ideas? Thanks! |

I just broke the same hatch on our boat 2 weeks ago!!!!! Nothing really seems truly broken, just the glass came separated from the hatch mount. I really hope it can be glued back. I have seen other threads where people have had to replace the entire hatch with a different brand that is a slightly bigger size requiring extensive work. I will keep my eye on this post in case someone comes up with a better plan! |

I have the same boat and hatch. This was a custom design for Fourwinns by Lewmar and is no longer supported. There was a falling out between the companie and they changed suppliers to Bowmar. Being a custom size any replacement would require slight modification - that is making the hole slightly larger. I wish I had better news. I have been looking for years and gave up. I now keep the forward bunk hatch closed and it does not leak. |

Thanks a bunch for your input. Regardin broken hinge: After closer inspection of the hinge, I too found that what failed was the bond between the hatch lid and the hinge plates. I contacted Lewmar who first recommended that I replace both hatches but who eventually told me what adhesive to purchase to make the repair. The adhesive is Plexus MA310 an it is available through Jamestown Distributors in Rhode Island. According to my research, this material is incredibly strong and will make a chemical bond between the acryllic hatch lid and plastic hinge plate. |

Regarding rubber hatch seal: Lewmar didn't have it and they sent me to Select Plastics who apparently offered repair kits for these particular hatches. I contacted Select Plastics and was told that no replacement parts for my hatches have been on the market for 10 years. They suggested I contact Marine Connection Liquidators and they had nothing for Lewmar hatches. Looks like I'm down to trying to mend my existing seal. |

CRAP!!! ![]() That's why the "Gorilla glue" didn't work! I am going to close it as tight as I can, seal the outside with silicone and not open it again before I replace the hatch!!! |
