Facing the stern of the boat, look at the top right of the transom plate, next to the transom.
You may need a 45 degree attachment for your grease gun, as the rear transom pods can often leave little room! :(

if it's a SXA, there is no grease zerk; the gimbal bearing is "sealed for life" ( which I always regard as meaning "sealed until it fails"!

Forgive me but I will get on my soap box again. Why do they use lubed for life (LOL) gimble bearings and ujoints, when the coupler splines still need to be greased? An unless Volvo has done what Merc did and make the coupler splines grease-able with out removing the drive, you still have to remove the drive to grease the coupler splines. Of course thats what you should be doing with an I/O yearly anyway. Check the bellows for water, check the gimble and u-joints, make sure the input shaft seal is not leaking gear oil. Doing these things will help your I/O last longer. "Permenantly Lubed" components give people the idea that maintenance is not needed, when in fact it still is..

Yes Lou,

I agree entirely regarding these so callled "permalube" parts; I edited my original post to "sealed until it fails" from "sealed until death" !

It's a strange modern mentality, nothing needs maintenance and just mend it when it fails, rather than using preventative maintenance to stop it failing in the first place. I even find that with my Automotive customers; some have had machines down for days when something fails; theiir costs due to shutting down production lines ( Jaguar, RangeRover) must have been horrendous; they never learn though !

I'll tell you what, if I lived in the southwestern US where rust is not a problem, I'd have a fleet of vintage old school American 4x4s, in GM, (1st gen Chev Blazer) Ford (1st gen Bronco) and AMC (SJ Wagoneer) flavors. I'd love to get far far away from our modern electronic marvels and back to the elemental machines I learned on 40 years ago...
