http://www.marinaire.com/category_s/30.htm $200 cheaper, reverse cycle, smaller, and can run on a 1000w inverter. |

I installed a cruisair unit in my 248 when we had it. Easy install just a little bit tight. The hardest part by far was getting the aft cabinets out. Let me know if you have any questions |

Were you able to get the factory harness for the power or did you make one up( from breaker to unit) |

Ric have you ever seen one run on a 1000. Watt inverter, just 1batt or 2. ? I have a xantrex pro 1000 that would be great if it would run it if not my Eu 2000 will |

Not to run on battery power, but to run when the engine itself is running/idling when off shore power if you don't have a built in genset. |

Can't recall how much but it just plugged right into the back were the existing breaker is mounted for A/C. I mounted my thermostat on the cabinets facing the bow instead of at the entrance to the cabin. It seem to run a little longer and keep a more comfortable temp. As far as a 1000w inverter good luck i wouldn't hold my breath. That inverter is probably rated for a constant load of 750w. We have never really had the need for A/C on the lake, unless you anchor out every night |

Last fall I was looking at inverters and possibly an a/c installation. The guys on this site referred me to this site for step by step installation in a 268. I found it very informative, it might be worth a read. The author discussed the installation and also several of the issues that he encountered. http://www.boat-project.com/mech/proj-13.htm |
