I have a Garmin 740 & just bought a Garmin 740S for my new boat. S for sounder/fishfinder.

Both units can support radar. I called Garmin and asked, "Can I put in a "a/b switch" and switch between the 2 units. They said that "we have never done that, but they are "hot swappable" so I don't see why not."

My question is, has anyone done this??

Im sorry, I dont know the answer to this, however I am curious as to why you would want to do it?

A dual helm setup I can see, but you dont have that do you?

Jeff, me thinks he wants to switch radar between the two units, since only one (740s) displays sonar, he may want radar on one, and sonar on the other.
And no, his Chaparral 290 Sig does not have dual helms.

Got it. Basically more screen real estate. Make sense, sometimes I wish my display was bigger for all the information being displayed
