So, mid 2000 328 Vista Owners, where do you keep your camper canvas stored when not in use? We don't use ours for a mooring cover, but we do use it whenever it rains and we're at the lake (we don't let a little rain keep us from having fun).. So, we need it with us while we're out.. We also have kids with us, and sleeping in the aft every other weekend, so just tossing it on the aft bed doesn't really work great..

On the 318 we roll it up and put it in an underseat storage compartment we have under the far starboard seat in the rear U-seating.

I don't have a vista, but I put mine in the ski locker.

Well, after we launch our 328 in the spring we at our first opportunity take the mooring cover off and put the complete camper top up. The camper top stays up for the duration of our boating season until we are ready to be lifted back out and winterized at which time the mooring cover goes back on and our camper top gets cleaned and then gets to live under our ping pong table for the winter months.

Now to answer your question, if I was keeping our camper top on our 328 without having it up, I would roll it up and store it under the rear aft seat above the engine compartment.

We arrive at our boat sometimes late Friday evenings rain or shine and prefer to simply have our camper top up full time.

Mike.

Well, if I had a Ski locker, that might work.. One of the very small frustrating parts of this boat for us (but not enough to keep us from buying it), is the lack of cockpit storage space. We don't have storage at all under the back "U" shaped seating, it's just open, and yea, we could store it under those seats, but, it to me, would be a bit messy looking over time.. We have a covered slip, so leaving it up all the time, isn't necessary, and in the heat of the summer, leaving it up all the time while out would be unbearably hot in the cockpit.. Was thinking of trying out the outer "wings" of the small storage/access area under the aft bed, but there it might be a little humid with the A/C and gen intake in the center of that area (would put it in the center part where the intakes are actually located), and that could be a concern if I could get it all to fit there anyway..

We usually take the camper enclosure off in the next few weeks and just keep the bimini up for the rest of the summer. We do keep the entire enclosure on board just encase the weather gets nasty and don't feel like coming in. Front windshield visor gets rolled up lined with an old bed sheet. Along with the side curtains, it fits under the forward berth. For the back curtain, I fold the canvas edges towards the center covering the eisenglass and then rolled up. I usually lay it on the padded shelf in the aft berth or up on one of the forward shelves above the forward berth.
We have a bow cover and cockpit cover that gets folded up and stored in the dockbox at the slip for the weekend.
Always looking for better storage methods.

I wonder if you could locate a suitably sized plastic storage container that would still fit nicely under the rear aft transom seat. A container that would store all the unused camper top pieces in one spot and could simply be slide out from under that seat when needed?

Although our camper top remains up all season, as soon as we wake up in the mornings and the day is decent we take down all the side and rear pieces of our camper top and under the rear aft transom seat it goes until such time as we leave the boat or put camper pieces back in due to weather issues.

Mike.

That is certainly on our list of ideas, but finding the appropriately sized container will be the challenge.

We leave ours up all summer, its nice to have some shade on hot days. I haven't even thought of taking it down durring boating season., let alone where to store it.

Sorry, I thought you ment the camper top/roof. As for the sides and back we store those under the V-berth bed.

I'll have to look at that again, but is there enough room there for all of it??

We haven't had our long enough to deal with that yet. We generally take all the canvas downexcept for the top piece. Last year after we got our 328 the weather was not nice enough to have all the canvas down.....So I'm really glad this topic came up.

We leave it up all summer and store all the sides under the starboard seat in the U shaped seat. The legs of the transom seat keep it all neat, and with the table in (which ours always is), you don't even see it.

In an effort to make boating simple, we added straps to all our rear canvas so we never take it down. All we do is roll it up and snap the loops. This has given us more available storage space as well as saving time when the summer showers pop up. Was very inexpensive to do.

Prior, we stored all canvas in the rear starboard storage area rolled up. The admiral does not like bringing the canvas below deck since all the spiders seem to hide in all the nooks and crannies.
