Post subject:  Red and green bow lights

I am changing the red and green bow lights on my 1994 278 vista. The wires feeding the lights are not long enough to allow a cut and splice. I thought I would need to remove the headliner to access the wires. I now believe if I remove the bulk head at the front of the vee berth, I may be able to access them. Does anyone know how to remove this piece? I tried removing the adjacent shelf and light hoping that those screws might hold it in place. That is not the case. Any ideas?

It should be one single white bulb and access is from the top. There should be no need to play with wires at all.

I guess I should clarify, I am changing the fixtures. The boat came with white plastic fixtures which deteriorate and break after a few years. I want to install stainless fixtures with led lights. Thanks, Dan

Roger that. I am not familiar with the interior of your boat. I have a mirror in the front of my v-birth and there is an inspection port behind it (remove the mirror) that allows some access to that area. You may get lucky and it might be as simple as cutting a tie wrap to give you the play you need to make the switch. Good luck.

Do you have the seperate red/green nav lights, or are the together in one fixture on the bow? Also, if you have an anchor locker, access should be in there.

Dan, if mine wasn't so far away in the storage place since I moved, I'd go see what I could figure out for you.

I have two separate light fixtures. One port fixture and one starboard fixture. In the pictures, thank you (afw200), the second one shows the fixture just above the MC number. The first picture shows the bulkhead that I think needs to be removed for access to the wires. I removed the interior illumination light plus the teal colored shelf hoping that their mounting screws held the bulkhead or hid the screws that held it. Under the cushions there is limited access to the anchor locker. I am going to look in there and see if that gives me access.
Thank you for you response, any additional help would be appreciated.

Thanks John. Just read a couple of looper's blogs who mentioned Beaverton.
