OK...first season with the new boat so I figured I would start this... Here is my first question: 1. Where does everyone keep their cockpit cover and camper canvas while the boat is in use?? We are not allowed to have dock boxes at our marina. Thanks, Marty |

Jnizi has a perfect solution to this by adding straps to the tops of your canvas and just rolling it up into the straps when not in use. I think Firecadet613 and myself will be following suit here shortly after seeing how much space it saves. Hopefully he will be by to elaborate a little more on the procedure |

That is an old trick that flybridge boat owners have done for years. Easy to "unroll" when you need to put it up in a hurry. My grandpa did that all the time on his Silverton Convertible. |

There's a few pics in this thread http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9832&p=94304#p94304 Quote: That is an old trick that flybridge boat owners have done for years. It saves space,it's easy to deploy when a storm hits, and Jnizi says it keeps spiders out of the cabin which is a big deal to me since I hate spiders! |

I will take a few shots this weekend and share. To do all the back canvas, it was around $100.00 from my canvas guy. Worth every penny. |

No dock boxes allowed? That is unreal. |

I'd also love to see some pics, as I have been pondering doing the same thing, myself. Definitely a lot easier to roll up and unroll than to take all the way down and put back up every time. |

I hope this helps visualize what was done. Bailed on staying at the boat this weekend. A bit too chilly and windy. 8 ft waves on the lake would not make a comfy ride. The straps are installed inside and outside with an extra tab to hold the strap from dangling when not used. ![]() ![]() ![]() Saves time and storage space. |

If the cockpit cover you are referring to is the travel cover (snapping directly to windshield down to back of boat for use when the boat is not in use) we just keep ours in the back of our car while we are out for our extended weekends. We leave our camper canvas up all season, but can replace our eisenglass with heavy duty screen inserts (made by our local canvas guy) and then we roll up our unused eisenglass, put in soft bag, then stowe it under the rear bench seats. For the rear of the camper canvas, if we are underway we leave ours down, when we arrive at our destination and we want it up, we will flop the panels over the top laying them flat. Our boating area can be heavy with mosquitoes at times, so generally the admiral and kids prefer them down with the screens exposed to minimize our bug exposures inside the cockpit. Hope this helps. |

On my 378, I have straps. I just roll each piece up and snap the straps. Works great. We also had screens sewn in to keep the bugs out at night. |

Does everyone's "stock" camper canvas for the hardtops have just a small rectangle of glass over the transom?? Line of sight is not great. I was wonder if they changed that on the newer models... FYI...Great Lakes quoted me $650 for the new stock front visor and $450 for the pair of side visors. Stereo question: I have the standard full setup on the 378. Clarion XMD3 above the galley counter with the amp under the port storage compartment. I hooked up an aux input cable to the aux that is shared by the DVD player buit it only plays in the cabin so it must be a rear channel only... So...anyone figured out how to hook up an aux jack so it plays in all speakers?? The problem is tht there is no slack to pull the harness out and I can't figure out how to get the cover off to access the area behind. |
