So there is that drain in the step down area right in front of the companion way door and the water seems to drain out of this area extremely slow. Is this normal, or is it likely that the drain is clogged in some spot? Anyone else have this same issue? |

I believe that drain ends up in the engine bilge, give a few shots of compressed air or plunge it if its full of water. but make sure the hose isnt kinked first |

I had a 258, no it does not go into the bilge. That dain would be too far foward for that, but I don't remember having one there. If it was me, I would use a hose and force water though it. But those small drains are not that big to begin with. |

Yeah I believe it's a small drain that goes out the side of the hull. There might have been a spider nest or something stuck in there over the winter that catching debris and causing a backup. Flush it out as others have said but first make sure your boat yard didn't jam some paper in there from the hull side to prevent critters from crawling into your boat over the winter |

depends on the year because I have seen older 258's are set up just like mine and it does follow the wiring and ends up in the bilge. |

Ok, maybe I'll try to run a small snake through it and then shoot some water through it to see if that cleans it out. Thanks guys. |

I should unclog pretty easy, no matter where it goes |
