Just wondering, because my trailer tongue seems huge. I am going to take it and check the tongue weight but haven't got around to it, with the busy work I've had lately. I have almost 8 ft of tongue from where bow touches roller and ball hitch. It just seems excessive, that and every inch I can get it shorter makes go in my building easier. Here is powerwinch wired the right way. I bypassed the plug on winch and wired it direct. Then installed a semi plug holder to hold it when not in use. You push it up in and turn it to lock in place. Bumper plug on truck wired from battery to give power. ![]() image by rick2752, on Flickr |

If you can I would leave it. That nice long tongue has 2 big advantages, makes the trailer easier to back up and makes it easier to launch if you have lousy ramps. I put a longer one on my old Load Rite just for that reason. It made launching much easier and not putting the rear tires of my Jeeps in the salt water is nice!! |
