I have a 2000 vista 268 which I plugged in to shore power last evening in the driveway. It's the first time I've done it as I just bought the boat last fall. The green "shore power" light on the main panel is lit but I can't get anything to work. My batteries aren't hooked up yet, does the shore power completely bypass the batteries or do they need to be hooked up for it to work (I hoped that's not a dumb question)? I've checked the breakers but can't seem to find anything. Thanks |

Since the green light is on you have 110 volt power and the polarity is correct. Turn on the main breaker and any other breakers you choose.....EXCEPT THE WATER HEATER!!! If you do not have water in the system you can burn out the heater element. |

For my 248, which I suspect your 268 is the same, you'll need your batteries installed. Once installed, switch one of your batteries on. Then you should be able to run just about everything but your water heater and A/C. Need those batteries in first. |

Many of the systems are 12 volt as well. Untill you hook up the batteries, none of these will work. |

Almost everything on your boat runs on 12V. Shore power just runs 110v accessories (A/C, microwave, water heater and battery charger). You need batteries to run all other systems. |

Alright, well thanks again to everyone. The batteries are in and everything works. Another lesson learned. 12V....right. Thanks |
