I dropped my anchor yesterday, when I went to pull it up all that would happen is a clicking a the anchor relay. It didnt matter if i was asking for it to come back in or let more out, would just click. What do you guys thing is wrong? Do you think the anchor motor went bad? I checked the fure and it was good and the clicking at the relay tells me that the relay is fine as well. Let me know what you think. Thanks |

Are you able to test the voltage at the output terminal of the relay when the relay is activated? It could be as simple as a poor/corroded connection. Hope you are not still stuck at anchor ![]() |

Corrosion most likely. Loosen the wires to the windlass, clean them and tighten them back up again. Do this while all battery power is turned off. The windlass draws a LOT OF POWER. You do not want to be poking metal tools around the wire terminals without MAKING SURE THE POWER IS OFF. Otherwise you stand to get some very nasty electrical burns should you mistakenly short-out the connections. And likewise make sure to not have any rings or other jewelry on your hands while doing it. Those too can short-circuit a connection and burn the bejesus out of your hands. This is pretty safe work to perform DIY, just make sure it's OFF first. |

I have had this issue a few times (2004 268) and it turns out that the line was bound up in the bottom of the windlass. Open the inspection port next to it and grab the line under the windlass and give it a good yank downward. It may take a few minutes to untangle it (if that is the problem) but you should be able to work it out. Make sure no one is near the button when your hand is in there; it could do a number on your fingers. Control it yourself from the foot switches while trying to work out the tangle. |
