I use a Garmin 496 weather enabled GPS when I'm boating. I use that unit so I can remove it from my boat and put it in a plane when I fly. I have found a mount that can be built into a dash and yet allow the GPS to be removed. I would like to find a spare plate like the one that is shown in this picture where the GPS and radar would normally be installed. Wondering if anyone has one that they might have removed to install their own GPS or if anyone knows of a part number for this. Just kicking around some ideas and I want to keep this one so I can put it back in when I sell my boat.
I've also thought of somehow fabricating an entire new part but think this might be the easier route.
