Anyone have a davit system installed on their 278 (or 268)? Did you do the install yourself, if so, any issues? What brand of system did you use? Pictures? Thanks |

I don't have a 278 but I am using weaver davits on our 328. You can buy directly from weaver online bit you need to pick it up in the U.S they will not ship to Canada but it a lot cheaper to do it this way. |

I installed a Weaver Davit on my 2006 - 278. I special ordered them from Weaver (in Idaho) and used the 'snap' davit. I got a +4" extension on the snap davit so it overhangs the swim step more, so it doesn't crowd my swim step. It also became necessary to add the 4" because of the 'rounded' swim step. I installed it myself. Remember to 'measure twice and cut once' or in this case 'drill' once. It is a little intimidating drilling through the swim step, but it worked out great. The snap davit I used is removable. You actually install a permanent plate that the davit slides into. When removed, it is flush with the swim step. In the picture you will see I also installed the "Weaver Leaver" which is a motor mount that articulates with the launching of the tender, therefore not having to remove and reattach the motor each time. We use the tender/motor on trips, and if we are just buzzing around the sound or lake, we leave it off. One thing though, I ended up adding 2 more standoffs to secure the tender even more, when you get into rough water or cross a wake at high speed, it can jiggle quite a bit! I am new to the forum, let me figure out how to attach a picture.....Stay tuned! |
