Does anybody knows how to troubleshoot an issue with the fuel pump?
I mean how can we know that the problem XYZ is the fuel pump ?
it just for my knowledge. A friend got a problem 1week ago, and dealer found in 5mins an issue with the fuel pump ?
any idea?

Location: Southern ohio
Not real hard to put a pressure gauge on and find out if you have fuel pressure. If you dont have fuel pressure and you have voltage to the pump, its likely bad.

I'm a mechanic of many years and I had issues with my 5.7 gsi where i'd get on plane and shortly the motor would bog down and lose power. At this time the fuel pump would whine. it was the fuel pump losing pressure due to the low pressure lift pump failing or binding. I disconnected the fuel line ran the engine out of gas and re connected and restarted and problem seemed to vanish. I have used the boat 4 times since for over 6 hours and still no problems.
