I posted this question over on thehulltruth, but I'll post here as well. I am interested in having my first time "in water" wnterization processes evaluated. I have a 328 Vista with I/O and Volvo Pentas Since they are I/Os - there is no way to shut off the raw water input to the water pump. But you can raise it up above the water line and the water will stop. So I raised it up, and slowly poured a gallon and 1/2 pink stuff in and then plugged each hose and left them raised. I remove the left and right block plugs at the bottom and the left and right exhaust plugs as well - wired each one. I removed the lower portion of the main collant hose and the water pump output hose and drained those. I then reassembled everything (minus the waterpump input hose) and cracked the thermostat housing. I poured about three gallons of antifreeze directly into each block and reassembled the thermostat. Anything I miss? |

You cracked the thermostat housing simply disassembling it? ![]() |

Cracked meaning you popped it off? Whatever I'd never leave an IO boat in the water all winter here. We get hard freezes and that can crack the bellows and the you got a real problem. 'Nuther thing you could have missed is your insurance policy. Most say the boat must be pulled by a certain date like Dec 1st or so, if you leave it in and it sinks you might not be covered. Check the policy. |
