Hello, I just purchased a 2000 298 without hour meters. I've been told it has approx 350 hours. I am thinking of adding hour meters. Mostly for future resale value. Any thoughts? Price? Ps. How do you add photo of your boat to your signature? |

Welcome! To add pic to signature line, go to User Control Panel (upper right corner of screen), then on the left side of screen under Options, select Profile, then Edit Signature. Above the text box you will see a button marked IMG. Select that, it will put brackets in the text box. Copy and paste the URL of your pic from whatever photo site you use. NOTE: You have to have any pic you want to uplaod in a photo sharing site, you can't upload directly from your computer. After you get the pic uploaded, go ahead and put the boat details under it for your signature line (see mine for example). Again, welcome and happy posting! |

Yes an hour meter is a good idea. They will help in performing maintence. They're simple to add and cheap. I added to my prior boat and you have different types to select from. Some are digital and others mechanical. Some require wiring or attachment to distributed which limits installing them near engines. Personally I like the mechanical type...if they fail then you don't lose the reading like you do with digital models. I also like having it mounted at helm so i can see its working. The mechanical type has ground and hot which I connected the hot side of ignition when key is on. The meter will run whenever key is on, but I never had key on unless motors were running. |

Another option may be replacement Faria tachometers with built in tachometers. Some may like the idea, some may not. If interexted, you might try the Faria web site or EBay. |
