Don't worry if you hear any negative OMC sentiment on other bulletin boards. The Cobra was a good product the issue is that there are not that many mechanics who know them certainly not compared to Merc. Ask the owner who maintained it for them and see if you can continue with them if they good. If you do your own maintenance there are some major differences from Merc drives that you need to be aware of (re-filling the drive after an oil change, & adjusting the shift cable at the 2 main ones). Both of these jobs have to be done according to OMC specs or you can have issues. A plus for the Cobra is that the impeller replacement and the bellows replacement is much easier on the Cobra than on the Alpha. Any questions just ask.
If the original owner kept it that long it must have been a good one....

That is the same year Vista that my dad had when I was younger! That boat is what made me want to get into boating as an adult. I cannot wait to see pictures of it!!

You know the 245 for it's vintage doesn't look very outdated compared to most boats of that era. It's base design is very similar to boats today.
