seen where some people will put on a poly or other sealer after the teak oil
not sure if i wanted to do that

I did the same thing to my Century Express. A year later it looked like it did in the beginning. Teak oil looks great but requires a lot of reapplications. If you want to seal it, I would first let the teak oil wear off and then stain it, then follow that up with a marine grade sealer like they used on the old wooden Centuries. It would still require a lot of upkeep, but it would look nicer for a LOT longer. Maybe find someone who's done it before and ask them, I sold my Century before attempting the sealer approach.

thats what i was thinking if i sealed it i would have to sand off and redo keeping it oil only i can just rub a few coats on it during the season

Just oil it and keep it covered when not in use.
My dad had a 1986 Four Winns with the teak swim platform. I remember stripping and re oiling it every year pretty much when it sat outside all the time. After building a pole barn to store it in we never had to strip it again, just oil a couple times a year.

I simply use a large paint brush to apply teak oil every 5 odd boat trips.
Works like a charm and is never slippery.

Yes, the teak oil comes off quickly I find on the swim platform because it is wet all the time. I find that after 2 days, the salt water and sun makes it look like I didn't treat it at all! The cabin doors and other trim I have treated stays perfect for a long time. Guess its just because of the constant washing the platform gets.

Did you replace the OEM boarding ladder? I found it was so high it was going to be possible for some people to get into and off the boat with that one step awful ladder. I bought a stainless 4 step and mounted it. It's perfect and lays nicely on top of the platform. The other swung up and took up a bunch of space.
