Do you think a 3/4" piece of cherry veneer plywood polyurethaned would survive the marine conditions? My table would only be out 10-25% of the time we are boating. Just while we are eating. If it rains, it is under canvas.

My first concern is warping...

I think it would be fine, especially since you say it will be out for eating on and under the canvas. Are you making it yourself, or buying it pre-made?

I made this out of pine and stained it walnut, then varnished it. It has held up 2 seasons so far.

I would think it would be okay for a quite a few years as well. I had a piece of birch plywood as a table on a grille outside and uncovered. It was leftover so I just stuck it on there. It lasted for a couple years even without any urethane on the edges.
I would just put a good amount of urethane on the edges to seal the plywood and your all set.

NiagaraChillin, love the cup holder feature....

Thanks! If I remember right, the factory table was about half the size and didn't have any cupholders. Dealbreaker right there 8)

I ended up going with a custom cherry wood table that fits the exact dimensions of my current table. It's rectangular in shape and approx 24"x34"x.75".

A furniture store that does custom work quoted $600.

I found a local wood worker and worked with him directly. He's charging me $300.

Once I get it, I'll post a photo.

Wow that's sharp!! I'm thinking he could sell a bunch of those tables at that price if he wanted to!
