I'm not sure how thick the wood and fiberglass are, but I suspect you could mount it there since the extinguisher is mounted on the firewall. I recently removed two rubber mounts that where attached with 1/2 screws if that helps! Please take pictures as you install it. I've been considering it as well. |

Took up space, and since she'll never see salt water again under my ownership, I removed the reservoirs. Everything else is still there, so, in the future, can be reinstalled quite easily.. |

I think Graham had this on one of his boats so you might ask him about the set up... |

LouC wrote: I think Graham had this on one of his boats so you might ask him about the set up... Well remembered Lou, it was on my 245 Sundowner for 9 seasons! It did work rather well in protecting the manifolds and risers ( the rest of the engine had closed cooling). I also had it on my previous 225 Sundowner, not for so long though. A couple of hopefully useful hints: The solenoid valve sometimes don't shut off completely allowing the contents of the reservoir to leak out over time; To get round that I fitted a small ball valve before the filter, it also meant the filter could be changed without losing a lot of fluid. "Things" like to grow in the neutrasalt fluid especially if the engine has not been run for a while and a black sludge can form in it, blocking the lines. My first kit had no filter. My second kit came with a filter that could not be inspected; I changed it to one of those gas filters with a clear plastic housing so it was easy to check it ( and cheap to replace). As to taking the wires to the helm, on the 278 Vista that I have now the harness to the helm goes along the starboard side at cockpit floor height, it probably does on your boat as well. Taking the rear seats out made access easier when I was feeding trough the fishfinder cable, I just following the route of the other cables. |
