Greetings -- My Windlass stopped working (Simpson-Lawrence (now Lewmar) Sprint 400) and I started troubleshooting it yesterday. I started back at the battery at the 25 Amp breaker. Both sides of the breaker tested 12 Volts. Then I went up to the toggle switch, one side tested 12 Volts and the other side test 0. When I put the switch in the up position one side tested 12V and the other tested 7 Volts. When I put the toggle switch in the down position it also tested 12V and the other side tested 7 Volts. I am guessing that everything to this point is okay. Although, I would think that the windlass would need 12V to move it up and down? I was thinking that my next move would be to take the mirror panel up at the bow of the boat off and get to the windlass motor unit and try to test the voltage there. Is there anything between the toggle switch and the windlass motor, that might be the issue (in-line fuse, connector box, etc.)? The windlass had been working find, the boat is a 2004 268 Vista, so there is 10 year on it. When I hit the toggle switch there is no noise or movement at all in the motor. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
